Nizâmara, the Queen of Darkness

Nizâmara was the first goddess, born out of the original darkness at the beginning of time. She is said to be the color of ebony, and that her face is often hidden in shadow or her long black hair. For thousands of years, she endured the darkness alone, but wished for a companion. Eventually, Gilbreoth saw fit to grant her that wish, and created Thoth to be her compliment.

With Thoth, Gilbreoth also created light. While intriguing at first, the light quickly ate away at her beloved darkness, and drove her away. It was only after seeking solace deep within the earth that she could gather her peace. Over time, though, she grew bitter with Thoth, and vowed to take away his light and restore darkness to all the universe. Few people actually worship her, save for dwellers of the Underdark.
